I think I'm going to try to keep up with blogging. I think it's a great way to express how I feel and a good break from procrastinating (haha I really should get that studying going!). Today, I was boothing for my club. This means that we would stand in front of a table and talk about our club to anyone who passes by and is willing to listen (haha). There are over 350 clubs at my school, so what would make ours stand out? Well, it's easy actually.
I learned this from my assistant manager at work last year. She told me that whatever I do, don't sell the product, sell help. That advice stuck with me. It's true. There are probably a million other people out there trying to sell their product. But, let's turn the tables. Let's delve into the needs of others and find out what can actually benefit them. Although sometimes, this may mean they are not interested in what I'm personally selling; but hey, I could've helped someone find something they are passionate or interested in. I think that's better.
To be honest, in the beginning I was worried about our club not having enough money, not having enough members, and all the physical traits that may label a club as being "successful". But the truth is, that is not what will make our club successful. Even though we may not have the most members or the most money, I'm really excited for this year. With a smaller setting, maybe I'll get to know the members individually. And wouldn't it be awesome if each of those members actually learned something new or improved on a weakness they had? I think that's pretty cool. So that's our goal: to promote help - because that's the best type of selling.
